Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Gardener/ Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team on a seasonal basis. Working out of our base in Coldstream the role will involve working as part of a small team helping to maintain a variety of sites across the Scottish borders ranging from small and large domestic gardens to large commercial contracts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a strong understanding of grounds keeping practices.

Duties

  • Perform landscape maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeding.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for various gardening tasks.
  • Maintain garden beds by weeding, mulching, and fertilising as necessary.
  • Drive company vehicle between sites.
  • Assist in the implementation of new landscaping projects as required.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and report any malfunctions.
  • Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8.30 till 4.30 although overtime on a weekend may be required if work has been held up throughout the week with bad weather.

Experience

  • Previous experience in gardening or grounds maintenance is essential.
  • Previous experience in hard landscaping would be advantageous.
  • PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with gardening techniques and plant care is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • A strong work ethic with attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labour outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Full clean driving licence
