The Sisters of Mercy wish to recruit the following positions:
A part-time Maintenance Person / Caretaker/Gardener to work 24 hours per week.
The position is based on a one-year fixed term contract and a 6 -month probationary period.

General maintenance of properties including the cemetery/s.
Main Duties and responsibilities.
- To keep a daily diary which will be signed off by the Line Manager.
- To check all light bulbs and emergency lightening on a bi weekly basis and change if necessary.
- To report any repairs to the line Manager.
- To clean windows and all glass areas regularly.
- To carry out general repairs in the houses as required.
- To carry-out the appropriate disposal of waste materials.
- To be responsible for the transportation of recyclable items to local collection points.
- To collect and dispose of electrical waste.
- To paint areas inside and outside as required.
- To be responsible for weekly bin collection. Maintenance of bins to a hygienic standard.
- To maintain tools, equipment and other supplies in a safe manner.
- To liaise with contractors & accompany them around the property.
- To be responsible for the upkeep of the garden. This includes mowing, planting, cultivating, pruning, shaping, hedge trimming, weeding & watering.
- To have a full clean driving licence. To drive and escort Sisters to appointments local and long distance.
- To be responsible for the Convent fleet of cars.
- To report any breakage or any equipment that may require replacement.
- To co-ordinate with the Manager in relation to supplies
- To meet weekly with the line manager or as required.
- To maintain an inventory and ensure availability of supplies.
- To do any heavy lifting, when necessary, in keeping with Manual handling training & directions in staff handbook.
- To keep a record of all appliances and machinery that may require servicing.
- To wear the appropriate clothing when on duty in keeping with the health & safety policy.
- To adhere to the Health & Safety policy and procedures of the Sisters of Mercy, Northern Province.
- To ensure that machinery in serviced annually and keep a record of same.
- To perform all duties in accordance with the job description.
- To perform routine and scheduled duties.
- To prioritise work to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- To complete daily work record forms and job assignments sheets.
- To complete other related paperwork as directed.
- To keep track of receipts for items purchased for each job.
- To perform other duties as directed by the line manager.
- To complete Incident/Accident report forms appropriately when necessary. Report any hazards immediately to the Manager.
