Full job description

Overview
Greens Of Soham farm in excess of 2,000 Ha in the UK, primarily in East Anglia but with operations in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Our primary focus is potatoes and beetroot and we are the largest grower of these crops in the UK. In addition, we grow onions alongside traditional cereal and sugar beet crops.

ProSeed is our high-grade mini tuber production facility, with the capacity to produce 1.5 million tubers per annum from both substrate and our bespoke aeroponics systems. The facility is comprised of laboratory, two glasshouses, seven separate poly tunnels, cold store & grader.

The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join our small friendly team at ProSeed, duties are varied, and training will be given.

The role will cover a variety of duties required in supporting the planting and growing of minituber’s in the outside polytunnels.

Tasks will include:

· Planting and harvesting in polytunnels

· Repairing/preparing of growing systems and boxes which include tool work, heavy lifting, power washing etc

· General groundworks and daily maintenance which can involve weed picking inside and outside of tunnels

· Assisting in the lab when required - stem cutting for multiplication, preparing agar and cleaning duties

· Maintaining a good level of organisation and cleanliness around the site

· Other tasks as required

Requirements

Whilst experience is not essential, the right person will have the ability to learn quickly, have good attention to detail and be able to record information accurately. Due to the nature of the manual tasks, good motor skills and concentration are essential. Applicants should also be able to take on the maintenance tasks required using tools as required.

Applicants must have the relevant right to work in the UK and have excellent English language (verbal and writing) skills.

The role is based in West Linton (EH46 7AA) and applicants must be able to reliably commute daily – there is limited public transport so driving licence/own vehicle is preferred

Hours of Work

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm with the occasional weekend required, immediate start available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 39 – 50 per week
