Thompsons Plant & Garden Centres are a family run Garden Centre group consisting of four Retails sites. We specialise in supplying our garden centres with our very own plants, grown on four nursery sites in the south-east.

As well as our extensive collection of plants we aim to provide everything you would need for your garden. At all of our garden centres, you will find compost, weedkillers, insecticides, lawn care products, plant food, watering equipment, houseplants, fencing, stoneware, tubs and baskets, fruit & vegetables and much more.

we are looking to recruit new enthusiastic and energetic customer focused individuals to join our team. to work around 20 hours per week spread over 3 Days, including alternate weekend working.

You will be expected to help in all aspects of the day to day running of the garden centre, from collecting trolleys, assisting customers with heavy or bulky items, general housekeeping of the shop floor and grounds, watering and replenishing stock in both indoor and outdoor sales areas, as well as serving on the till.

This job can be hard work, there is a lot of lifting, shifting, and manual labour involved.
To help us meet the demands' of a high customer flow, whilst giving great, consistent, customer service, you must be able to work at speed.

We are looking for an experienced retailer with good horticultural knowledge .You would be provided with any necessary training to ensure you quickly become a valued member of the team.

Responsibilities:

Serving customers within different departments within the centre, on the tills, or by phone. This involves being on your feet the majority of the working day.

Dealing with deliveries coming into the garden centre which includes helping to unload plants which arrive on Danish trolleys as well as palletised dry goods, checking stock against delivery notes and putting stock out for sale, this would include some bending stretching and lifting.

Looking after the stock we sell and have in displays, which include watering with hose pipes' or watering cans, picking off dead leaves and light pruning, weeding, and feeding.

Putting out dry goods when they arrive this will include moving the palletised goods with a manual pallet truck as well as lifting heavier items such as large pots, barrels and forged troughs.

Use of hand held scanning devices to maintain accurate stock records

Price checking and putting out promotion signage and POS.

Creating and maintaining displays in the garden centre, and keeping all areas to the high standards set by the garden centre association which will include painting and light general maintenance work where needed to site fittings.

Keeping sales area and stock clean which includes sweeping, dusting and scrubbing.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
