Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Freelance Horticulturist / Gardener to maintain and enhance the beauty of a private residence’s landscape. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work independently, applying your horticultural expertise to create lush, vibrant gardens that reflect the homeowner’s vision. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, precision, and a deep knowledge of plant care, landscape maintenance, and garden design to ensure the outdoor space remains healthy, thriving, and visually stunning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine gardening tasks including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and fertilizing to promote healthy plant growth.
  • Maintain landscape features such as lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems safely and efficiently to support garden upkeep.
  • Monitor plant health regularly; identify pests or diseases early and implement appropriate treatment measures.
  • Design and execute seasonal planting schemes to ensure year-round visual interest.
  • Conduct landscape maintenance activities such as edging, mowing, and leaf removal as needed.
  • Collaborate with the homeowner on garden improvements or new planting ideas to enhance aesthetic appeal.

Skills

  • Proven experience in gardening and horticulture with a strong understanding of plant care principles.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools (shears, spades, rakes) and power tools (trimmers, blowers) safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems for efficient watering and moisture management.
  • Growing experience with a variety of plants suitable for different climates and soil types.
  • Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices including lawn care and pruning techniques.
  • Ability to identify common pests and diseases; capable of applying environmentally friendly solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to garden health and aesthetics.
