Grounds Operative

About the Role

Based at our Stoke Climsland Campus, we are looking for a Grounds Operative to join our dedicated Estates and Grounds team. This is an exciting opportunity for a practical and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in maintaining attractive, safe and welcoming outdoor spaces. Working closely with the Grounds Manager, you will play an important role in delivering the College’s grounds maintenance plan, operating a wide range of horticultural machinery and supporting students, apprentices and volunteers in developing their skills and experience. You will help ensure that all grounds maintenance activities are carried out safely and to a high standard, while contributing to the wider life of the College through events, community activities and emergency support when required.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in horticulture, grounds maintenance and working outdoors. You will ideally have previous experience in grounds maintenance or gardening, along with Lantra or equivalent tickets for strimming and ride-on mower operation. An understanding of health and safety and experience, or a willingness to learn, in using horticultural machinery, hand tools and equipment are essential. You will need to be physically able to undertake outdoor grounds maintenance duties and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
