JOB TITLE: NURSERY OPERATIONS MANAGER (HORTICULTURAL)

SALARY: £37,570.00pa.

HOURS: 42.5 hrs pw

Located in the heart of rural Leicestershire, Sulney Nursery is an industry leading Commercial Nursery, supplying high quality trees, shrubs, plants and gardening materials to both the commercial and domestic sector. We are a successful family business which over the past 35 years have developed a reputation for exceptional quality and service that is second-to-none. We grow, cultivate and farm over 80% of our horticulture stock within a 50 mile radius, reducing the “Plant miles” of all our products. Sulney Nursery are looking to recruit an motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Nursery Operations Manager to join our team at Sulney HQ at Upper Broughton, Near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

You will ensure that all staff apply the highest standards of Health and Safety in the workplace..

You will drive productivity by providing effective leadership, mentoring and coaching to all members of staff, and drive sales and control spending and reduce wastage.

You will closely liaise with clients and customers to understand their needs and plan productivity accordingly.

You will attend company meetings and be the subject matter expert on plant production and delivery.

You will plan the production cycle of all plants and growing stock and take seasonal variations into account in order to meet the requirements of our clients.

You will ensure that all team members understand the production plan and how they contribute to the successful delivery of that plan.

You will ensure that the highest standards of plant husbandry are applied at all times in order to ensure optimum quality of stock.

You will maintain and update appropriate production records and provide reports on request from the Operations Director.

You will oversee the growing stock logistic cycle, including stock rotation, on-time replenishment and turnover of stock, to ensure the highest levels of quality and service.

You will maintain accurate stock records and produce reports on request.

You will ensure that all Nursery equipment and infrastructure (including irrigation systems) are maintained and serviced and report any damages to the Operations Director.

You will advise and assist with the development of new product lines to meet customer demand.

You will manage the team to ensure that the daily picking process meets the requirement of our clients.

You will take all reasonable measures to ensure the security of all nursery equipment, machinery and vehicles at all sites (Including Lindrick through the Nursery Supervisor).

You will be consistently proactive by forecasting the requirement for equipment and materials for the sites operational outputs.

You will proactively develop the skills of Nursery staff and enhance their horticultural knowledge.

You at all times be a positive advocate for Sulney Nursery and ensure the team present themselves in a manner that is professional and positive.

You are to oversee the daily functions of the nursery and identify areas of efficiency and improvement where necessary.

You will manage staff holidays and absences as required in accordance with company policy and process.

You will be reliable, professional, diligent and motivated. You will have an eye for details and be able to manage multiple sites whilst maintaining a “Can-do” attitude.
