Full job description

Due to expansion, we are looking for a qualified and/or experienced gardener with good horticultural knowledge to join the small, friendly team.

90% of the client base is regular/recurring garden maintenance, mostly on a weekly or fortnightly schedule, at both small and large private residences in and around Tonbridge, giving you familiarity over where and which gardens you would be working in. Most work would be carried out with a colleague, including working alongside and overseeing/supervising junior colleagues, however some sole working may also be needed from time to time. Therefore your own transport may be needed in these instances.

Garden maintenance work varies from garden to garden but typically would include weeding, mowing, watering and feeding, pruning and deadheading, planting, hedge trimming, leaf blowing, composting, mulching, digging new beds etc. Therefore experience and knowledge is needed such as identifying plants, pruning schedules, identifying plant specific issues, and being able to advise clients, through to operating machinery safely and effectively. Most of the machinery we use is battery operated.

The key focus of the business is to provide a quality service with attention to detail, being reliable, professional, and personable. At the same time, there is a relaxed, friendly feel within the team.

We work all year round and in most weathers. A typical day is approx 9am-5pm during the peak seasons, shorter during the winter. However there can be some flexibility within this.

This role is starting as a self employed position for 1 day per week, as well as the option of covering absences, with a view to increasing over time and transitioning into an employed position for the right person. Experience and good horticultural knowledge necessary, RHS qualification a strong advantage, with an overriding requirement for the right personality and qualities to fit into the team. Should be comfortable around dogs.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour

Work Location: On the road
