Full job description
Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference. Our **Barnardo’s Gardeners** support us to carry out general gardening duties and tidying of outdoor areas in our regulated settings, such as Children’s Centres and Nurseries. There may also be the opportunity to support in the delivery of outdoor learning activities with children and their parents/carers, such as Forest School and Worms and Wellies. We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team, with a love of the outdoors and an interest in supporting children and families to engage with outdoor play and growing activities. **The Dundee Child and Family Support Service**, which supports children and young people with additional support needs, is looking for volunteers who would like to help in our garden at our service in Dundee (3 Fleuchar Street). Hours are flexible and would depend on weather and time of year, but we are looking for volunteer support to help maintain our garden for children, young people and families to access for sessions and group work roles. We would also be looking for gardeners to help get involved with groups to support children, young people and families and be able to help facilitate gardening sessions (for around 2 hour per session and for around 4-6 session across the year (aim would be to run 1-2 groups) alongside support from the volunteer coordinator and other volunteers. We would be keen for gardeners to share their knowledge and help tailor groups appropriate for various ages and abilities at our service. We're happy for volunteers to get involved with both aspects or just gardening or just group work, but any help would be much appreciated.
