Thomson Garden Services - A family run business built on reliability and trust. We provide a range of affordable garden services for residents in the Dewsbury/Wakefield district and the surrounding areas. Due to our continued success, we are looking to recruit an experienced landscape labourer to undertake various projects. The successful candidate will travel to client’s houses in and around the Dewsbury & Wakefield area following a set specification, to a high standard and within an agreed time frame. This might be alone or with another team member.

Job Responsibilities:

Main Duties include Hard landscaping duties such as Installing driveways, patio building, building walls, block paving, decking, artificial grass, installing drains and more. The labourer will need to assist the landscapers carrying materials, digging, keeping the work space clean and organised and mixing mortar

The following is desirable but not essential, this includes but are not limited to: Mowing. Applying lawn treatments. Weeding. Hedge trimming. Shrub pruning. Planting. Digging. Garden clearance maintaining Boarders (turning over soil, correctly removing weeds, turfing etc.

Qualifications:

PERSON SPECIFICATION We are looking for someone who is really passionate about landscaping/building and providing a professional service to an exceptionally high standard. Desirable - an up to date portfolio of previous work and proven experience in this industry. Any landscaping/building qualifications will also assist you if you are selected for and interview.

Essential: Due to the nature of our business we can be delayed by the weather and as such will require a candidate who is very flexible, able to work shifts at short notice & change rest days occasionally if required with the odd Saturday working to catch up if necessary.

Essential - Ability to work alone, act as a team leader & work as part of a team. Reliable, hardworking and self-motivated with a ‘can do’ approach to ensure the job is completed on time to a high standard. Good organisational skills. Friendly and helpful personality with a smart, presentable appearance. Literate and numerate and able to keep accurate records. Ability to communicate well with clients and suppliers of Thomson Garden Services in a friendly manner. Possess a current, full and clean driving license and able to drive a Transit sized van/tipper and trailer is desirable but not essential.

Desirable but not essential : Practical experience and skills to carry out hard landscaping duties such as fencing, decking, patio laying, building walls. Experience in using and(excavators/mini diggers) Stihl saws, vibrating wacker plates etc, together with Knowledge In machinery and the ability to maintain and repair equipment.

Desirable but not essential - A keen passion for gardening with good practical gardening experience and the ability to identify common plants and prune appropriately AND not essential but desirable if they possess a recognised horticultural qualification
