Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Gardener to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in horticulture and landscape maintenance, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This role involves caring for various gardens across Teesside, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard with particular attention to detail. We also value customer satisfaction highly, so the ideal candidate must be both friendly and attentive.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

Your main responsibility will be to assist your team leader in all aspects of garden maintenance. Please note that gardening is most often hard work, so please bear this in mind as you consider joining The Jolly Gardener team. The most common tasks you will be undertaking include:

Lawn mowing, strimming & blowing.

Hedge cutting & leaf debris removal.

Garden border work, such as digging, pruning, weeding, edging, replanting, etc.

Less-frequent tasks & responsibilities

Although less common, you will also be asked to assist with the following:

All aspects of hard landscaping including patios, decking, artificial grass, etc.

All aspects of soft landscaping including lawn installation, stones/gravel installation, ground clearance, etc.

Garden machinery repairs & maintenance.

How success within the role is measured:

Success at the Jolly Gardener will be measured on a number of key metrics & expectations, managed and recorded by your team leader to ensure that you continue to grow with The Jolly Gardener. These measures of success/growth include:

Your willingness to learn and engage with new machinery, concepts, practices, horticultural knowledge, etc.

Your ability to display a can-do attitude, alongside time-management and independent problem-solving skills.

Positive engagement with Jolly Gardener clients.

Your ability to follow instructions clearly, especially when concerning health and safety.

Sub-team leaders

Required qualifications:

No formal qualifications required.

Candidate must have:

Excellent people and team skills;

Good time-management skills;

Good problem-solving skills;

Ability to listen and follow instructions correctly;

The ability to learn and retain new information quickly.

Desirable experience & skills:

Desirable skills/experience includes:

General gardening know-how;

Basic knowledge of garden machinery and garden engines;

A driving license.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 – 35 per week
