Salary: Up to £30,000 per year
Additional Pay: Bonus Scheme + Commission for New Leads
Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8-hour shift plus 1-hour break)

The Role: Senior Grounds Operative

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional ready to take the next step in their career. As Senior Grounds Operative, you’ll work on both contracted maintenance projects and one-off premium grounds care jobs, while also working closely with other departments when needed — particularly supporting the landscaping team on collaborative projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead high-end grounds maintenance jobs and client contracts
• Supervise and guide operatives on-site, ensuring exceptional quality of work
• Operate and maintain all tools and machinery safely and efficiently
• Provide support to the landscaping team when needed, working as one unified team
• Maintain positive relationships with clients and uphold company standards
• Identify and report on new business opportunities (commission paid on successful leads)
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies
• Foster a positive, collaborative work culture by leading with professionalism and enthusiasm

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with the right balance of experience, leadership, and drive, who values working in a company where people grow and succeed together.

Essential Requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence (this is essential — please do not apply without it)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in grounds/garden maintenance or landscaping
• Good horticultural knowledge and plant identification skills
• Confident in operating a variety of machinery: ride-on mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, etc.
• Supervisory experience with strong leadership and people management skills
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices including COSHH
• Reliable, professional, and a strong communicator (written and verbal)
• Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and adapt when priorities shift
• Comfortable using smartphones and basic tech for scheduling and reporting

Desirable but not essential:

• Horticultural qualifications
• CSCS Green Card
• PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates
