Senior Horticulturist / Landscape Architect in Saudi Arabia

Supervision Contract

We require a qualified Senior Horticulturalist or Landscape Architect with horticultural knowledge (BL / Landscape Tech / BSc or similar) to supervise nursery and planting operations in Riyadh (KSA) as part of our current team. The current requirement is for 6 – 7 months, starting 1 May 2025 or the latest 1 June 2025, until end of the year. (This is the current approved period from the client).

You will be part of our Joint Venture team GLA / Sets. (GLA) https://gevers.design and (Sets) http://www.setsintl.net. (Your services are required by GLA).

Background

Gevers Landscape Architecture is a leading landscape architecture firm for design, planning and supervision, responsible for several landmark projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We have been working on the current project since 2022 and now require a fulltime senior horticulturist or landscape architect to supervise nursery operations.

Responsibility

The responsibility relates to supervising all softscape work of the contractor. Typical nursery operations would include:

• Overall nursery management and operations
• Propagation activities and schedule requirements (seeds and cuttings)
• Ongoing operations related to existing trees and shrubs
• From external suppliers, approve selected palms, trees, shrubs and ground covers (shape, size, health, in relation to specifications)
• Pruning and shaping large trees arrived in containers from abroad
• Checking growth or treatment methods proposed and Inspecting work or materials.
• Supervising planting operations on site

Typical administrative operations

• Attending meetings and report on nursery activities
• Supervising and documentation of general nursery operations
• Identifying problems and provide solutions to mitigate
• Perform inspections and provide professional guidelines
• Assuring compliance with standards, review methodology, progress and logic sequence
• Warn clients of problems or possible cost implications
• Reporting regarding schedules and deadlines

Other requirements:

• Own laptop (or other working tools you prefer)
• Knowledge in relevant programs such as MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• International driver’s licence

Qualification Stipulated

• Recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or B.SC.Arch or B.Sc. Arch Tech (Landscape)
• Minimum Experience 10 years

Work experience in Middle East an advantage, but not a requirement.

Remuneration

• You receive a monthly rate of: SAR 36,200.00 Saudi Riyal - (USD 9.451,70 / GBP 7.300,00 approx.)
• In addition we provide: Flight tickets, car rental and fuel cost for periods in KSA.

Your expenses

• Visa cost. We provide visa invitation.
• Accommodation in Riyadh (We can assist with recommendations – Typical B&B ca SAR 5000/month)
• Daily living expenses abroad
• You are responsible for own tax, medical, pension etc.
• Medical cover for periods abroad is compulsory
