Full job description

We are looking for an individual with an eye for detail when gardening. Someone who can not only bring a creative flare with a strong work ethic, but a broad knowledge on plant names and correct care techniques on a daily basis. The gardens we maintain have a diversity in styles and themes allowing you to bring new ideas to all spaces which can be portrayed to the client.

Job Role;

The job will be working in multiple gardens on a weekly basis. At Prune to Bloom we maintain the gardens how we see most beneficial for the clients grounds. Further to this we would love to hear your feedback on how customers gardens can be improved further. If you are maintaining spaces why not share your recommendations for plant ideas? This will allow you to express your skills and knowledge on a day to day basis. Your ideas will be a valued and you will not feel like just another number in a team.

We require an individual who is very attentive on time keeping, shows self initiative and works in an efficient and safe manor when using tools in the gardens. If you have experience with landscaping you will be required on larger garden design projects.

Ability to comfortably drive a van will be required. Should you not feel confident, this can be discussed on interview. You will be expected to load up the van in the morning with the tools you should need for your day ahead. Weekend overtime is always available which will be required from time to time to meet client expectations on contracts or larger projects. This is communicated well so you know where you stand for your weekend plans.

Future potential within your role at Prune to Bloom;

Further to working amongst a growing team, there will be opportunities arising in the future. There will be the need for a team leader to work closely alongside Bradley helping maintain expectations and get the best from clients gardens. More details can be explained during interview.

Duties:

- Perform groundskeeping tasks; lawn care, grass cuts, fertiliser application, lawn renovations inc. scarifying, top dressing, aerating etc.

- Trained climbers & Wisterias on faces of houses, pergolas and walls will need pruning at height when required.

- Maintain beds and borders to a very high standard; weeding, mulch application, fertilising when required.

- Assist with the selection of plants and plans for developing spaces on larger projects.

- Divide and plant plants in gardens at correct times of year.
- Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and plants at preferred times of the year.
- Monitor plant health and identify any pests or diseases and provide solutions.
- Have a clear understanding on plant Identification and show good knowledge on Latin plant names.

- Comfortable working on a ladder as a lot of work is performed at height.
- The use of hand and power tools frequently and help maintain them in the workshop.
- Operate larger machinery when required; tractors, ride on mower, utility vehicles.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Horticulture principles and practices which can be used to demonstrate methods to clients if and when asked.
- Experience with groundskeeping, lawn care and garden maintenance.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively on a daily basis.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to maintain the tools.
- Knowledge of plant care techniques including pruning methods, fertiliser application, and identical replacement plants.

- Must be a team player.

- Must have good time keeping skills and communication.

- Must have a minimum of a Level 2 RHS Horticultural Certification.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

- Must have full clean drivers UK license.

- Must have the right to work in the UK.

Hours required;

Working hours are 7:30pm -16:30pm Monday to Friday. Overtime always available, sometimes will be required. This is communicated well so you know where you stand for weekends.

Probationary period will be 6 months. Can/will be extended if required.
