Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as an Assistant Grounds person at our Sports Centre in Folkestone. This role involves maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces through various maintenance and horticultural activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the upkeep of grounds, ensuring they meet high standards of appearance and safety. A basic understanding of mechanical systems, hand tools, and power equipment is essential.

Duties

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, and scarifying to ensure healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
  • Operate and maintain gardening equipment and some basic power tools i.e. jet washer.
  • Utilise hand tools for planting, trimming, digging, and general groundskeeping activities.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and grounds infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support gardening activities by scarifying, pruning, strimming and removing weeds as necessary.
  • Follow health and safety protocols during all operations to minimise risk and ensure safe working conditions.

Experience

  • Proven experience in grounds keeping or horticulture is highly desirable.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to operating garden machinery such as rollers, would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools for gardening or construction purposes.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance practices within gardening or construction environments.
  • Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions is preferred.
