Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Team Leader

Summary: We are seeking skilled and experienced individuals to join our team as a grounds maintenance team leaders. This role requires leadership, practical skills and a commitment to delivering excellent results in a variety of conditions. A valid driving license and proficiency in operating various types of gardening and landscaping equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance of various sites through expert gardening practices, while also operating machinery to efficiently complete assigned tasks.

Responsibilities:

Supervisory: Supervise, coordinate and work alongside the team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Mentor and encourage junior staff providing guidance and support as needed.

Planning: Allocate daily workloads and schedules, ensuring appropriate use of resources and time.

Garden Maintenance: Perform a wide range of gardening tasks including planting, pruning, watering, fertilising and weed control to ensure the overall health and amenity of landscapes. Report hazards or issues.

Lawn Care: Mow, edge, and maintain lawns using appropriate equipment to achieve a well-manicured appearance.

Landscape Enhancement: Implement landscape designs and contribute ideas to enhance the aesthetic appeal of commercial properties through the addition of new plants, flowers, or features.

Machinery Operation: Safely and effectively operate various types of machinery and equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and small tractors.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspection, maintenance and minor repairs on gardening equipment, ensuring their proper functioning and longevity.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices while operating machinery and handling garden chemicals.

Client Communication: Interact professionally with the public and clients, addressing their concerns or referring them to the office.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance to facilitate effective planning and reporting.

Requirements:

Valid driving license: Ability to operate company vehicles and transport equipment to different job sites.

Experience: Proven experience as a grounds maintenance operative, demonstrating expertise in a variety of gardening techniques and equipment operation.

Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills and attention to detail to identify plant health issues / weed infestations.

Safety Consciousness: Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to operate machinery safely, ensuring the well-being of oneself, coworkers, and clients.

Time Management: Effective organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, complete assignments within deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with clients and work collaboratively within a team.
