With the increase work-load available to the company, an opportunity has arisen for a horticultural assistant to be part of a team and carry out various horticultural tasks in various settings.

The company can offer career progression opportunities for hard-working and committed employees. Types of work would include all of the below:

· General garden maintenance tasks and tidying

· Garden clearances and renovations

· Groundwork and clearance

· Creating lawns

· Mowing and strimming

· Hedge cutting, pruning, and shaping

· Specimen shrub and tree pruning

· Planting and rejuvenation

· Advice and guidance

Suitable candidates will have either formal qualifications, knowledge or experience and a genuine interest in land-based work and horticulture. Ideally, suitable candidates will also have worked in the industry for at least 1 year and understand that the role is extremely varied.

Experience, skills, expertise, and certificates would ideally include:

· RHS qualifications or similar

· Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

· Ability to work under pressure and seasonal deadlines

· Good time management skills

· Good customer service skills and rapport abilities

· Good eye for detail and finishes

· Pruning specialist shrubs, trees and topiary

· Good weed identification skills

· Mowing, strimming and cutting large hedges

· Working in all weathers and tough conditions

· Knowledge of specific horticultural materials, methods, tools and equipment.

· Confident using land-based machinery

Desirable but not essential (possible opportunity to acquire these certificates)

· Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting Cs30

· Felling small trees cs31

· Aerial rescue cs38

· Chainsaw with rope cs39

The ideal candidate will ensure every job is completed to a high standard whatever their situation.

Candidates should have a positive attitude towards their work and colleagues, be reliable, punctual, physically fit, and well presented. Physical fitness and endurance are a must as this role is physically challenging and requires plenty of grit. Self-drive and enthusiasm is also essential.

Driver’s license is crucial.

Typical on-site working hours are 8am-5pm

15mins morning break paid and 30mins lunch break unpaid
