Job Overview
Crosby Training a local and long established skills Provider are looking for an Instructor to join our delivery team to teach Horticulture Skills on both land and poly tunnels. You will be required to teach block paving, constructing pathways, fencing, edging and creating water features at our designated site in north Liverpool.
You will be working with both young people and adults in helping them to manage their own environment and will be preparing for and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to work in this sector. As a qualified instructor and / or assessor, you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and progress of the learners in your sessions. The right candidate will be able to build effective and supportive relationships with learners to ensure that they engage as well as helping them to build their self confidence and enjoyment. Teaching will be both 1:1 and group sessions and will aim to help learners access work experience placements and work opportunities. CT offer a good work/ life balance and very competitive rates and other benefits. The successful candidate will be energetic, flexible and organised and be part of a dedicated team where going ‘the extra mile’ for learners is the norm. Candidates must have a recognised teaching or Assessor qualification with a minimum of 2 years experience. The role is part time but full time hours can be offered and we can be flexible.
Duties
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in designated subjects.
- Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to tailor lesson plans accordingly.
- Monitor student progress and adjust tutoring strategies as needed.
- Encourage and motivate students to achieve their academic goals.
- Prepare instructional materials and resources for effective learning experiences.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tutor or in a similar educational role is essential.
- Strong knowledge in Horticulture/Landscaping.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to engage students and foster a love for learning.
- Patience and adaptability to work with diverse learning styles.
- A background in landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, or gardening is an advantage, particularly with skills related to using power tools, hand tools, irrigation techniques, and an understanding of growing plants.
