Career Gardener – Full-Time, Live-Out, Little Easton
Location: Beautiful, historic private estate (5-acre garden with 7 acres of paddocks)
Start Date: ASAP (working alongside our current gardener)

Are you a skilled, energetic gardener who takes real pride in their work?
Do you want to work in a stunning historical setting, be part of a friendly family environment, and enjoy the variety that comes with managing a large, evolving garden through the seasons? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re seeking a dedicated, experienced, and self-motivated gardener to join our family-run small estate. This is not a job for clockwatchers or those looking to “just get by” - we want someone who sees gardening as a true profession, who thrives outdoors all year round, and who brings energy, care, and a can-do attitude to every task.

You’ll be working alongside our current gardener, who has been with us for 5 years and is due to retire later this year - offering a smooth transition and time to get familiar with the property and routines. He will be replaced with a part time gardener whom you will manage.

Responsibilities:

  • Full care and maintenance of formal and informal gardens, lawns, flower beds, borders, and paddocks
  • Seasonal tasks include: pruning, planting, weeding, watering, edging, mulching, leaf clearance, and pest/disease control
  • Regular mowing, strimming, and hedge cutting using garden machinery
  • Maintenance and minor repairs of garden machinery (mowers, strimmers, chainsaws, etc.)
  • Upkeep of pathways, fences, and outbuildings
  • General handyman tasks as needed: fencing, basic DIY skills, carpentry and plumbing, paddock maintenance, vehicle/horsebox washing, irrigation
  • Assisting with occasional animal care
  • Monitoring garden health and proactively identifying tasks
  • Ensuring the garden and grounds are tidy, attractive, and well-presented at all times

About You:

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional gardening experience (private estate experience a bonus)
  • Passionate about horticulture and proud of your standards
  • Physically fit and happy to work in all weather
  • Self-starter who can take initiative but also work well with others
  • Tidy, reliable, and highly organised
  • Friendly, discreet, and respectful in a private family setting
  • Confident using a range of garden machinery
  • Comfortable with maintenance/handyman tasks
  • Animal-friendly, with experience a bonus (horses, goats, chickens, dogs)
  • Holds a full, clean UK driving licence

We Offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Long-term, stable full-time position
  • Supportive, respectful working environment with a friendly family
  • Beautiful, peaceful location
  • Opportunity to take pride in and develop a truly special garden
