Gardener / Grounds Maintenance Operative

Robertsons Tree Care Ltd is looking for a reliable and hardworking Gardener / Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team on a full-time basis.

The role will primarily involve commercial grass cutting and grounds maintenance during the spring and summer months. During the winter and quieter grass-cutting periods, the successful applicant will assist our arboricultural teams with tree-related works and firewood processing, providing a varied role throughout the year.

Main Duties

During the grass-cutting season, duties will include:

  • Commercial grass cutting and grounds maintenance
  • Operating handheld strimmers and brushcutters
  • Operating pedestrian/walk-behind mowers
  • Operating zero-turn ride-on mowers
  • Maintaining a high standard of finish across commercial sites
  • Carrying out basic daily checks and maintenance of machinery
  • Driving company vehicles and towing trailers between sites

During the winter months, duties will also include:

  • Assisting tree surgery teams with ground-based operations
  • Processing and handling timber and woodchip
  • Operating firewood processing machinery
  • General yard, machinery and grounds maintenance duties
  • Assisting with other vegetation management works as required

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role
  • Experience using commercial grass-cutting equipment
  • A clean UK driving licence
  • Previous trailer towing experience
  • Good practical and communication skills
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
  • A willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • A good understanding of safe working practices

Experience operating zero-turn mowers, strimmers, brushcutters and other grounds maintenance machinery would be highly advantageous. Relevant qualifications or tickets would also be beneficial.

Location & Hours

The position will be based from our yard near Dunning, Perthshire, with travel to commercial sites as required.

This is a full-time position, with work available throughout the year.

Salary

Competitive rate of pay, dependent on experience and relevant qualifications.
