The New Foscote Hospital, part of the Akessa Healthcare Group is seeking a new a groundsman.

The appointee will be responsible to clean, maintain safe spaces, facilities, gardens and grounds for all staff and visitors. Additional duties includes basic gardening and portering.

The role is based at The New Foscote Hospital and the head office at 51 South Bar Street Banbury.

107 Harley Street, is an outpatient, diagnostic and day-case facility. The Group has had a presence in the Harley Street area since 2010. The treatments offered at this facility includes oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, orthodontics and specialist dentistry, plastic and cosmetic surgery, general surgery and rheumatology.

The clinical outcomes of the hospital group are of the highest standards and the latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as ‘good’ across all parameters. Our organisation has strong IT, operational, clinical governance and accountancy support. All colleagues are encouraged to feel empowered and to have an active voice on the management of their services.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the customer perception of the hospital service, in particular with regards to gardens and grounds services
  • Maintaining lawns and other green spaces.
  • To assist the Maintenance Engineer with any works at the hospital when requested to do so.
  • To report any maintenance issues to the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all day-to-day maintenance issues that occur and appear in the Maintenance “jobs–to-do” on the task master IT system

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure that the grounds and exterior of the hospital are clean and tidy, free of rubbish at all times.
  • Mow, trim and fertilize green spaces.
  • Mulch, edge and weed gardens and prune and trim trees and bushes
  • Install and maintain seasonal plants.
  • Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, like mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers.
  • Deal with pest problems that could damage plants
  • To respond to emergency or weather-related circumstances to ensure safe access to all onsite facilities.
  • To take and collect any bloods, samples and equipment to the Horton Hospital as and when requested to do so.
  • Support clinical staff with the safe handling and movement of clinical specimens.
  • Clear reception area of deliveries when required.
  • Fault reporting according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical input, if required, for all new equipment purchases.
  • Provide advice and support on maintenance related Health and Safety issues.
  • Provide input and support for the planning and implementation of major hospital development projects.
  • In the extremely rare event of need, attend emergency “out-of-hours” call-out requests.

Who we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety legislation and requirements.
  • Confident with a physically demanding role.
  • Ability to plan and work to own motivation and initiative.
  • Desirable to have knowledge in planting, weeds and all other horticulture aspects.
  • Computer literate
  • Awareness of Quality Management, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement processes.
