Grounds Assistant to join Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa Estates Team

Imagine spending every day working in the stunning grounds of Rutland Hall Hotel on the shores of Rutland Water ….

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Grounds Assistant to join our Estates Team to assist in all garden care of our beautiful mature parkland. The estate is large at 70 acres and consists of mixed and herbaceous beds and borders, trees, and extensive lawns.

The role will suit a knowledgeable, confident, grounds assistant or gardener who is passionate about gardening and outdoors maintenance, has a can-do attitude and who will enjoy working as part of a dedicated and hardworking team.

Our Grounds Person will:

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, pathways, and outdoor recreational areas.
  • Carry out planting, pruning, weeding, and seasonal landscaping tasks.
  • Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Ensure all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and free from hazards.
  • Assist with irrigation systems and basic repairs.
  • Carry out minor repairs to external facilities and assisting with hard landscaping repairs.
  • Assist in the management garden pests and weed control.
  • Support setup and breakdown of outdoor events (e.g. weddings, conferences)
  • Monitor and report any issues relating to grounds, such as pest infestations or damaged infrastructure.
  • Assist with snow/ice clearance during winter months.
  • Follow all health & safety regulations and company procedures.

Our ideal Grounds Person will have:

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar role
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including adhoc weekends
  • Knowledge of horticulture and seasonal plant care
  • Ability to operate landscaping machinery safely
  • Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Relevant horticulture or landscaping qualification (e.g. RHS or NVQ)
  • PA1/PA6 pesticide certification
  • Full UK driving licence
