Job Description: Growing Team Leader

Brief

You will assist in the production and growing of Perennials at Newey’s New Forest Plants site. These include cultural tasks such as trimming, pinching and spacing, production, pest & disease management and irrigation control.

Main Tasks of Job

· Assist with planning and executing crop work through attending weekly crop walk

· Quality Control and check-off intake of all young plant material (plugs) and request credit/contact suppliers where necessary

· Work with Production and Growing Supervisor to plan the order of potting, spacing and setting down of plants

· Oversee the trimming and pinching of young plant material and instruct Growing/Production staff where necessary

· Monitor P&D across the site with a weekly crop walk undertaken with the Site Manager

· Distribution of biological controls and monitoring of IPM systems

· Apply pesticide, fertiliser and other Plant Protection Products as directed by the Site Manager

· Organising production space, keeping the nursery clean and tidy

· Help record production data and assist with the production systems

· The above is not an exhaustive list and you may be required to perform different tasks necessitated by your changing role within the business and changes of the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Working Pattern

The role will involve seasonal pressures and during peak periods you will be expected to work the hours required to complete the role and to play an active role in supporting your colleagues. This will include some late evenings, early starts and weekend work.

Place of Work

The role is based at New Forest Plants, Beaulieu. However, you may be required to work at other sites owned by the group to carry out this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £26,000.00 per year
