Green Network Development Officer
Job details
Full job description
Job Advert
Are you passionate about creating greener, healthier and more sustainable places?
Falkirk Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Green Network Development Officer to help manage and shape the future of our parks, greenspaces and natural environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in tackling some of the challenges facing our communities, including climate change, biodiversity loss, health inequalities and access to high-quality greenspace. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will help secure investment, develop innovative solutions and deliver improvements that benefit residents, visitors and wildlife alike.
As part of a small, dynamic team, you will work with communities, partner organisations, consultants and contractors to develop and deliver projects that enhance Falkirk's green network and contribute to the Council's wider ambitions for climate action, biodiversity recovery, sustainable place-making and community wellbeing.
The Role
You will play a key role in both the strategic development and day-to-day stewardship of Falkirk's parks, greenspaces and green infrastructure network. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will help identify opportunities, secure investment and deliver improvements that enhance the quality, accessibility and sustainability of the Council's green spaces.
Alongside developing new initiatives and capital projects, you will support the ongoing management of parks and greenspaces, helping to ensure these valued community assets continue to meet the needs of residents, visitors and wildlife.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver parks, greenspace and green network projects from concept to completion. Support the day-to-day management and enhancement of parks, open spaces and green infrastructure assets.
- Identify opportunities to improve biodiversity, climate resilience, accessibility/Inclusivity, play and visitor experience.
- Secure external funding and help develop business cases, funding bids and investment plans.
- Manage project budgets, consultants, contractors and procurement processes.
- Work collaboratively with communities, stakeholders and partners to develop and deliver projects.
- Provide technical advice and prepare reports, tender and project documentation.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, management plans and policies that support Falkirk's green network.
About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and enthusiastic, with experience of developing and delivering projects within a relevant environmental, landscape, parks, greenspace or green infrastructure setting.
You will be a strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships, manage competing priorities and turn ideas into successful projects that deliver real benefits for communities and the environment.
You will have an HND (or above) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, relating to the management, planning, development or enhancement of parks, greenspaces, landscapes or the natural environment.
You will work 18.5 hours per week.
Why Join Us
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, partnership working and seeing the tangible results of their work on the ground.
For an informal discussion, please contact Mike Ewart mike.ewart@falkirk.gov.uk
