Job Overview

Seeking a friendly and knowledgeable gardener / handyman for a Leicestershire-based role, on a 3/4 day per week basis. Approximate hours could be 8am - 5pm, however flexibility would be appreciated as the principal may require weekend or evening help, i.e. Saturdays.

For the gardening side of the position, responsibilities will include regular mowing of lawns and paddocks, cutting hedges, weeding flower beds, and planting. Other general duties will include car washing and maintenance, occasional driving, running errands, and DIY duties. Candidates must be comfortable around animals - there are 4 dogs and 2 cats on the property and animal care is part of the role.

The ideal candidate has good gardening and DIY skills, and is reliable, friendly, helpful and willing. This is a hands-on role that needs someone with initiative, and who is happy to roll their sleeves up and take on whatever needs doing - a 'pitch-in' attitude would be appreciated. Applicants should have a driving licence and must be confident, safe driver. The principal would prefer that candidates are local .

Requirements

  • Proven experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not essential.
  • Must have your own transport.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge to operate and maintain gardening equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while performing physical tasks.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in gardening activities.
  • A keen eye for detail with a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively while completing tasks.
  • Good with animals
  • Able to work Saturdays
