Self-Employed Lead Landscaper / Landscaping Site Lead

Greenwild Limited – Garden Design & Build

Location: Cranbrook, Kent – projects throughout Kent and East Sussex

Job type: Self-employed / Subcontract

Pay: Competitive day rate, dependent on experience and agreed responsibilities

Start date: November–December 2026

About Greenwild

Greenwild is an independent garden design and build company based near Cranbrook, Kent, specialising in the design and construction of beautiful, high-quality residential gardens.

We undertake substantial, interesting projects for private clients, incorporating natural stone paving, brickwork, terraces, steps, retaining walls, garden structures and planting.

With a growing pipeline of projects and exciting plans for 2027, we're looking for an experienced lead landscaper or established small landscaping team to work with us on a regular basis.

The opportunity

We're particularly interested in hearing from skilled, self-employed landscapers who enjoy the practical side of building gardens but would welcome a more consistent flow of quality projects without having to continually source their own work.

This opportunity would suit an experienced landscaper who already runs their own small business, perhaps working independently or with one or two colleagues, and who takes real pride in their workmanship.

We're looking for someone who brings more than just technical ability. We value people who can think ahead, organise their work, solve problems and take ownership of delivering a project to a high standard.

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience in hard landscaping and garden construction.
  • Excellent workmanship, particularly natural stone paving, brickwork, steps, levels and drainage.
  • Ability to interpret garden designs, drawings and specifications.
  • Confidence planning and sequencing work efficiently.
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A reliable, professional attitude and attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating other tradespeople or managing small teams would be a significant advantage.

We're particularly keen to find somebody who takes initiative, anticipates what needs doing next and keeps projects moving efficiently, including planning productive alternative tasks when weather conditions interrupt certain activities.

What Greenwild can offer

  • A developing pipeline of substantial garden construction projects, with the potential for regular work throughout 2027.
  • Interesting, varied work on high-quality residential gardens.
  • Professionally designed projects and a clear overall design vision.
  • Project coordination, client liaison and procurement support from Greenwild.
  • Competitive rates and clear, agreed payment terms.
  • The opportunity to take responsibility for defined areas of project delivery.
  • A friendly, ambitious small business where experience, initiative and good workmanship are genuinely valued.

Long-term opportunities

As Greenwild grows, our ambition is to establish a permanent head landscaper / site manager position with increased responsibility and a performance-related bonus scheme rewarding quality, organisation and successful project delivery.

For the right person, this could offer an exciting opportunity to develop a long-term relationship with the business and play a meaningful role in its growth.

Interested?

We'd love to hear from experienced landscapers and small independent landscaping businesses across Kent and East Sussex.

A formal CV isn't essential. We'd much rather hear about your experience, see photographs of previous projects and understand what sort of work you're looking for.

Please get in touch with a brief introduction, examples of your work, your location and your availability.
