Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa has an exciting opportunity for a Gardener to join our Team reporting directly to our Head Greenkeeper

What’s the role?

As a Gardener at Formby Hall Golf Resort you will play a key role in maintaining our beautiful grounds to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our gardens thrive and flourish, contributing to the overall aesthetics of Formby Hall Golf Resort. Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper you will support and plan, to create and maintain the gardens to the highest possible standards.

The role will include caring for lawns and ponds across our site, the maintenance of all plants, shrubs, summer beds, as well as the general upkeep of all communal garden spaces, including keeping the gardens and car parks tidy and clear of litter.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), working 5 out of 7 days, 8 am - 4:30 pm.

About You

You will be:

  • Friendly and approachable with strong communication skills
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Physically fit and able to lift at least 25kg in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines and able to stand/walk for sustained periods.

You will have:

  • A passion for horticulture and a knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs and lawn care
  • Experience in a similar role
  • A commitment to sustainability and the environment
  • Knowledge and previous experience of safe use of pesticides - (PA1) desirable.

You will be able to:

  • Irrigate gardens as needed to ensure proper hydration for all vegetation.
  • Engage in landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, and weeding.
  • Utilize your expertise in growing various plants to enhance the garden's beauty.
  • Skillfully handle both hand tools and power tools to carry out gardening tasks effectively.
  • Contribute to the overall design and layout of the garden to create visually appealing landscapes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
