Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to maintain and enhance the beauty of a private country estate. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic. This role offers the opportunity to work in a tranquil, scenic environment, contributing to the upkeep of an exquisite estate garden. Applicants should be organised, reliable, and enthusiastic about gardening and landscape care.

Duties

  • Maintain the overall appearance of the estate gardens through planting, pruning, weeding, and lawn care
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems safely and efficiently
  • Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as soil preparation, fertilising, and mulching
  • Implement seasonal planting schemes and ensure plant health through appropriate horticultural practices
  • Monitor and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules
  • Prune trees and shrubs to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal
  • Keep all garden areas tidy, including pathways, borders, and lawns
  • Collaborate with estate management on special projects or landscaping enhancements
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and stored securely after use

Experience

  • Proven experience in gardening or horticulture within private estates or similar environments
  • Familiarity with growing techniques, plant care, and landscape maintenance best practices
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as secateurs, spades, rakes, as well as power tools like hedge trimmers or lawn mowers
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and maintenance is desirable
  • Previous experience working with specialised gardening equipment is advantageous
  • A genuine passion for gardening combined with a good understanding of horticultural principles is essential
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards
