About Us

Your Garden Is My Garden Ltd. is a friendly, growing gardening company providing high-quality garden maintenance and soft landscaping services across Surrey and West London. We work mainly with residential customers and are expanding into commercial gardening.

We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable gardener who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in their results and has the ambition to develop into a Team Leader.

You'll initially work alongside Anna, our Founder and Lead Gardener, and a junior gardener, learning our standards and approach.

As you develop, you'll progressively take responsibility for three key areas:

  • Gardening Expertise: Deliver high-quality garden maintenance, confidently identify plants and understand what work needs doing, when and why.
  • Team Leadership: Independently organise and lead two junior gardeners, ensuring quality, efficiency and excellent customer service.
  • Customer Relationships & Business Development: Build customer trust through horticultural knowledge, answer questions, recommend seasonal improvements and identify opportunities for additional services. You'll have back-office support for irrigation drawings, planting schemes and soft landscaping proposals, allowing you to focus on customers and developing business opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Garden maintenance, pruning, planting, weeding, mulching, lawn care and hedge trimming.
  • Soft landscaping, digging, soil preparation and seasonal garden improvements.
  • Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting garden irrigation systems, with training where needed.
  • Operating professional gardening equipment, including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers and blowers.
  • Loading, unloading and moving plants, tools and landscaping materials, including bags weighing approximately 20–25 kg, using safe handling methods.
  • Working safely at heights of up to approximately 3 metres, using appropriate ladders and equipment.
  • Communicating with customers, explaining gardening recommendations and suggesting improvements.
  • Occasionally assisting with leafleting and local business promotion.
  • Gradually taking responsibility for organising jobs and supervising junior gardeners.

This is a physically demanding, hands-on outdoor role, involving lifting, digging, bending, kneeling and working in different weather conditions. Safe working practices, suitable equipment and reasonable adjustments are supported.

Essential Requirements

  • Horticultural qualifications or training OR proven professional gardening experience.
  • Good knowledge of common British garden plants and their seasonal care, including pruning and planting.
  • Practical experience using gardening tools and powered equipment.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (photocard).
  • Basic knowledge of garden irrigation systems or willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable with physically demanding gardening, routine work at height and longer seasonal days.
  • Good communication skills and confidence interacting with customers.
  • Reliable, punctual, organised and willing to develop leadership skills.

Plant identification and practical horticultural knowledge will be assessed during the interview.

You don't need to know every plant or already be a Team Leader. We're looking for someone with solid practical gardening knowledge and the ambition to grow with us.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, with hours varying according to the season, weather and customer bookings.

  • Spring/Summer: Typically 9:00 am–6:00 pm, occasionally later.
  • Autumn/Winter: Typically 8:30 am–4:30 pm.

The working day starts and finishes at our Leatherhead base.

This is a zero-hours contract, with no guaranteed minimum weekly hours. Applicants should generally be available across the Monday–Friday working week.

What We Offer

  • £15/hour starting rate for gardening work, with qualifying business travel and other duties paid in accordance with the contract and applicable minimum-wage requirements.
  • Opportunity to progress into a Team Leader role, earning up to £20/hour, based on demonstrated skills, independence and leadership.
  • A friendly, supportive team and the opportunity to learn directly from Anna.
  • Practical training materials covering plant identification, seasonal gardening routines and best practices, helping you continuously develop your horticultural knowledge.
  • Back-office support with irrigation designs, planting proposals, soft landscaping plans and customer quotations.
  • Varied work in beautiful gardens across Surrey and West London.
  • Opportunities to develop customer relationship, leadership and business development skills.

How to Apply

We'd love to hear from you!

Please apply through Indeed with a brief summary of your professional gardening experience or horticultural qualifications, plant knowledge, experience with powered equipment, driving licence and availability.

Please note: This position requires existing horticultural knowledge and practical gardening experience. It is not suitable for complete beginners.
