Assistant Park Keeper

North Tyneside Council would like to hear from enthusiastic people with a can-do attitude who are eager to work outdoors. If you are passionate about the environment and the benefits that access to a quality recreational green space can bring to communities, then we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are seeking support from an interested person to join our established Northumberland Park Keeping Team to work as an Assistant Park Keeper for two years, on a part time basis, and help deliver the horticultural maintenance in accordance with recognised horticultural standards and Green Flag Award best practice.

The successful candidate

The post holder should have excellent communication skills as they will be required to engage with park users and the local community. You will need to be able to work independently and use your own initiative to provide benefit for all users of the park. You will work proactively with all members of the wider team including external agencies.

The post will require you to work in all outdoor weather conditions whilst carrying out significant manual tasks. You will need to demonstrate that you are able to meet the physical demands of the post, which includes carrying out manual tasks throughout the day and operating various equipment and machinery.

As an integral member of the Parks and Horticulture team, you will help us ensure North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit.

Fixed Term for two years providing two-day cover of a five-day Assistant Park Keeper post, working 14.5-hours per week pro rata following a seasonal shift pattern described below:
