Gardening:Job Title: Gardener/Maintenance Assistant
Department: Grounds & Facilities
Reports To: Head of Compliance / Assistant Director / Director
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Gardener/Maintenance Assistant. The primary focus of this role will be to maintain the gardens and grounds to the highest standards. During periods of reduced gardening demands, the individual will assist the maintenance team with a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of our facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Planting, pruning, and maintaining a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
- Weeding and controlling pests and diseases.
- Maintaining garden beds, borders, and pathways.
- Operating and maintaining gardening equipment such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Ensuring the safe use and storage of tools and equipment.
- Watering and fertilizing plants as needed.
- Maintaining compost and other soil amendments.
- Assisting with seasonal planting and landscaping projects.
Maintenance:
- Assisting with basic repairs and maintenance tasks in and around the facilities.
- This may include painting, decorating, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work (depending on skills and qualifications).
- Moving furniture and equipment.
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of work areas.
- Assisting with event set-up and take-down.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Gardener or Facilities Manager.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a gardener or in a similar role.
- A good knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain gardening equipment safely.
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A willingness to learn new skills and undertake a variety of tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive and proactive attitude.
- Any experience in maintenance or trade skills would be advantageous.

- 40 hours per week
