Site Manager – Building Refurbishment

Casey

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE plus £4,000 Car Allowance & Benefits

Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Full-time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a Site Manager to manage one of our building refurbishment projects in Sheffield, South Yorkshire

You will be based at Brunswick Gardens Retirement Village in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

We are 3 years into a 5 ½ year project on the 217-apartment site carrying out numerous M&E fire safety improvements, including fire alarm upgrades, emergency lighting, warden call systems, domestic & commercial wiring, extraction systems, and much more!

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced Site Manager with a solid M&E background, particularly in fire safety systems such as fire alarms, dry risers, emergency lighting, warden call systems, and both commercial and domestic wiring. You’ll be working in a live retirement village setting, so a strong understanding of compliance, resident safety, and professionalism is essential.

The nature of the work may involve accessing hidden services—behind walls, under floors, or within kitchens and bathrooms—so experience in general building works is important. A background in joinery would be ideal, along with a good working knowledge of plumbing, plastering, painting, and finishing works to ensure everything is reinstated to a high standard.

You’ll be responsible for managing subcontractors, coordinating day-to-day site activity, and ensuring temporary works like scaffolding and fencing are properly handled. A proactive approach, problem-solving mindset, and high standards of quality and health & safety are key.

A CSCS Black Card is essential, along with SMSTS and First Aid qualifications. If you’re a practical, well-rounded professional who can confidently lead refurbishment works in sensitive, live environments, we’d love to hear from you.

The role of a Site Manager (Building Refurbishment) at Casey

· Manage site teams and contractors to deliver high-quality work using the right resources and procedures.

· Foster a positive site culture, encourage team development, and support collaborative working.

· Ensure all required documentation is completed on time and attend relevant meetings.

· Maintain health and safety plans, risk assessments, permits, and training records in line with legislation.

· Ensure the safety of personnel, visitors, and the public in line with company policies.

· Take part in safety investigations and support ongoing improvements to health and safety standards.

· Deliver work to specification and current drawings, managing site logistics and maintaining production targets.

· Resolve delays or issues quickly, ensure quality is upheld, and lead the team with a ‘Right First Time’ mindset.

· Keep clear communication with stakeholders and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.

· Coordinate labour, materials, plant, and other resources to keep the project on programme.

· Monitor and report weekly progress, manage documentation, and issue work programmes to subcontractors.

· Maintain quality and budget targets by ensuring timely information flow and effective planning.

· Support cost control and ensure financial decisions align with the project’s commercial strategy.

· Understand contract types and contribute to the project's overall financial performance.

· Car Allowance of £4,000 per annum
