We are a well-established construction company based in Newton Abbot, undertaking a diverse range of building projects, focusing on residential projects. We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable General Builder with a strong specialism in Bricklaying to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking for a varied and rewarding role with potential for long-term career growth.

About the Role:

As a key member of our team, you will be involved in all aspects of construction projects, with a particular focus on bricklaying. This role requires a proactive individual who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in bricklaying and possess a solid understanding of associated trades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing high-quality bricklaying work to exacting standards.
  • Undertaking related tasks including, but not limited to:
  • Plasterboarding
  • Basic Carpentry
  • Plastering
  • Blocklaying
  • Ideally, the ability to carry out additional trades such as basic plumbing and tiling would be advantageous.
  • Working safely and adhering to all health and safety regulations on site.
  • Operating effectively within domestic working environments, respecting clients' properties.
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Maintaining a positive and proactive "can-do" attitude and demonstrating a strong work ethic.
  • Working on your own initiative to complete tasks efficiently and to a high standard.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of continuous experience as a general builder with a strong focus on bricklaying.
  • Preferably hold a minimum of NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Bricklaying, Plastering, Carpentry, or another relevant trade qualification.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience working effectively within domestic environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact politely and presentably with clients.
  • Exceptional work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Own comprehensive set of hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Own reliable transportation to and from site.
  • Must be able to provide two trade references from recent employment/contracts (ideally within the last 12 months). Applications will not progress without these.

Desirable:

  • Valid CSCS card.

Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Pay is negotiable based on experience and demonstrated skills, ranging from £13.00 to £17.00 per hour.
