East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has a vision to be the most loved charity shop in our community. We think our 49 shops (and growing) are some of the best in East Anglia and our online presence is similarly impressive – Our Style with EACH brand recently won the Third Sector Award’s ‘Best use of social media’ 2022. The income from our shops and online platforms play a vital role in raising essential funds for children and families at a time they need it most.

For aspiring Shop Managers & Area Managers we have a structured, competency-based development tool, focused on supporting individuals to develop confidence and skills in all areas of their role, including online, internal and external training.

From driving our retail vans, to carrying out maintenance on our shops, it takes a whole team to make our retail operation a success; If you are looking to develop your career within our retail team there is a clear path to suit your goals across our shops, retail distribution centre and online platforms.

Retail Maintenance Technician

Hours: Part-Time - 21 hours per week

Wednesday + 2 other days to be agreed at interview

Salary: £27,126 pro rata, per annum (includes £1,500 pro rata, annual allowance)

  • Annual salary and allowance shown are both based on a 35 hour per week, full time equivalent (FTE)
  • Final annual salary and allowance will be calculated on a pro rata basis to reflect 21 hours per week contracted hours

*A Full UK Driving License and use of own car is essential for this role*

Are you:

  • An enthusiastic person with a background in building maintenance?

Do you have:

  • A proven ability to work on your own initiative?
  • Experience as a time served tradesperson i.e. carpenter, electrician?
  • Excellent IT skills and an interest in maintenance?

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out minor plumbing repairs, carpentry, building work and general maintenance
  • Administrative record keeping
  • Sharing knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Assisting with property inspections and contractor management

The role:

  • The role requires travel around Cambridgeshire and East Anglia providing support to EACH’s Retail Estate

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) ensures the best possible quality of life and makes every moment count for children and families across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Our family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management nursing, short breaks, wellbeing activities, therapies, care at end of life, bereavement support, counselling and volunteer services in the family home; all meeting the individual needs of the child, young person and whole family.

In 2020, all three of our hospices; The Nook (Norfolk), The Treehouse (Ipswich) and Milton (Cambridge) were rated OUTSTANDING by the Care Quality Commission.

Our people are central to our success. We have a talented workforce of staff and volunteers in Care, Fundraising, Retail, Facilities, IT, Finance, Marketing & Communications and Human Resources.

We employ around 400 employees and have more than 1,800 volunteers across the organisation, including 49 shops and a Retail Distribution Centre.
