Overview
For over forty years, Brelmayne Limited has served as a primary contractor for Walsall Council carrying out mechanical maintenance in schools and council buildings and also serving the private sector in Walsall and the West Midlands area, working with social care providers, construction contractors and local industry. Our work includes all aspects of gas heating, plumbing & pipe fitting, legionella prevention, electrical works and annual servicing of heating plant and commercial catering equipment in these establishments.

We are recruiting for a Commercial Electrician to join our team. This is a full time permanent role and the successful candidate can start immediately.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical systems and be capable of performing repairs and maintenance on various electrical appliances and installations.

The role consists of moving from job to local locally to service, repair, install or replace commercial electrical equipment, installations and commercial kitchen equipment. It will also include general miscellaneous works such as installation of basic electrical equipment like hand dryers, light fittings and switches in locations such as schools, colleges, commercial premises and nursing homes.

General knowledge of electrical installations and their associated systems such as BMS is essential. The role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

We work mainly in the Walsall, West Midlands/South Staffs area for Local Authorities, Educational, Commercial and Social Care establishments.

Excellent rates of pay, negotiable subject to experience/qualifications.

Tracked company van provided.

Local work with minimal travelling time.

Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment in a range of commercial and industrial buildings;
  • Diagnose electrical issues and determine appropriate solutions;
  • Use a range of hand tools to complete tasks efficiently;
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to diagnose potential problems and hazards to ensure optimal performance in line with safety regulations;
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints to determine wiring layouts;
  • Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance and remedial works as directed;
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used;
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding all aspects of their electrical requirements;
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently;
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment;
  • Follow Health & Safety regulations and protocols, complete required paperwork and adhere to industry regulations, standards and best practice;
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects effectively.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Commercial Electrician or similar role is essential;
  • 18th Edition BS7671;
  • City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 & 3 Electrical Installations or relevant NVQ Level 3;
  • 2391 Inspection and Testing is preferred but not essential;
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Proficient in using power tools and hand tools for electrical work;
  • Excellent understanding of electrical systems and wiring together with knowledge of British electrical codes and regulations;
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety standards;
  • Valid driving license for transportation of equipment and materials;
  • Must be able to self-manage and be confident of meeting deadlines and also be able to work as part of a team;
  • Any associated training is beneficial.
