Assistant General Manager – The Raven, Claines, Worcester

£35,000–£38,000 per annum | Profit-Related Bonus | Career Progression Opportunities

Intro

The Raven, our newest pub with rooms, is set to open in January 2025 in the picturesque village of Claines, Worcester. This beautiful building, full of character, is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound refurbishment and will feature:

  • 14 stylish guest rooms
  • A 40-cover bar
  • A stunning 86-cover dining room
  • A 150-cover function space

We’re focused on delivering high-quality food and drink in elegant, welcoming surroundings, always putting the guest experience at the heart of what we do. We’re now looking for a passionate, experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join us in launching this exciting new venue.

The Role

As Assistant General Manager, you’ll support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the site and act as a key leader for both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a premium gastropub environment with rooms and wants to grow with a forward-thinking, expanding business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and lead service when the General Manager is off-site
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of team members
  • Help manage stock, GP, labour costs, and profitability
  • Ensure exceptional guest service and engagement across the venue
  • Lead by example on the floor and maintain high standards at all times
  • Assist with reporting, ordering, and rota planning
  • Take ownership of functions and private dining service delivery
  • Deputise for the General Manager in their absence

About You:

  • Previous experience as a Deputy/Assistant Manager or similar supervisory role in a gastropub or pub with rooms
  • Passion for fresh food, excellent service, and delivering memorable guest experiences
  • Strong people leadership skills – able to motivate and manage teams confidently
  • Good knowledge of health & safety, licensing, and compliance
  • Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine love for hospitality
