Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Children's Care in a Residential Children's Home, and will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to our young people.

Role: Registered Manager

Location: South Ribble, Preston

Salary: Up to £55,000

Annual Leave: 22 days + 8 bank holidays. This rises by an additional day for every year of service up to 5 years.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Manager Bonuses: You can earn up to £5,500 annually pro-rata.

Role Purpose:

To lead the home’s multi-disciplinary team in the provision of care and support services for young people with emotional and challenging behaviours. Act as a role model creating a warm and supportive environment which aims to maximise the potential of young people.

Role Description

Young People

Provide leadership creating an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive, and nurturing environment appropriate to the physical, social, cultural, and religious needs of young people.

Ensure that the home is run in line with Northridge Care Group Ltd policies and procedures, Children’s legislation, regulations, and good practice and meets Ofsted standards at all times.

Develop and implement care plans for young people that include a variety of intervention strategies with emphasis behaviour management and the development of coping mechanisms.

Ensure that meetings and reviews of children are delivered within required time scales.

Ensure that staff deliver the support required in order to ensure that the life chance opportunities of young people are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.

Lead on the development and implementation of strategies in response to challenging behaviours ensuring these are consistently applied in the home.

Ensure that you lead the safeguarding culture at Northridge Care Group Ltd. Safeguard and protect the health, safety and well-being of children.

Be the primary point of contact in the home for representatives of other agencies including local authorities, regulators, GP and other medical professionals, therapists and social workers.

Ensure that the home works with families as set out in the young person’s care plan.

Ensure that an open culture is created, in which young people are able to express their views in a non-judgmental setting, be involved in individual and collective decision making and feel that they have choice and agency.

Participate in Staff and young people’s meetings as and when required.

Ensure that within the home staff, and young people understand, recognise, and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community.

Home Management

Take responsibility for all elements of the effective and safe operation of the home including staffing.

Manage and monitor all costs, staffing structures and rotas, ensuring they meet requirements young people’s needs and are in line with allocated budgets.

Ensure that all administration of financial, payroll and staffing related matters in the home is completed correctly and within the prescribed time scales.

Ensure that all staff adhere to the policies and procedures established in the organisation and the home.

Ensure that staff are motivated to deliver high standards of care, that they receive regular developmental supervision and have access to training and development.

Provide induction to new staff and in-house training to all staff in line with identified development needs.

Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.

Ensure that staff conduct, performance and attendance is managed effectively.

Ensure that the home meets its obligations to confidentiality, that records are held in a manner which is compliant with regulations and that all staff understand their obligations to confidentiality.

Ensure that the key worker system is well embedded in the home, understood by all staff and that its effectiveness is monitored.

Ensure that all staff understand their obligations to safeguarding and that the home has appropriate policies and procedures to meet these.

Ensure that all staff work in a way that demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the rights of young people.

Ensure that all staff are trained in medication delivery and understand how to respond to medical emergencies. Conduct critical incident analysis after any major incident to explore lessons learned.

Produce, co-ordinate and edit reports to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.

Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service managing any areas of disagreement in an collaborative manner.

Training and Development;

Lead the induction of new staff and the provision of in-house training.

Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.

To maintain your own skills and knowledge undertaking all mandatory and developmental training.

Implement and monitor good quality, person specific Development Plan’s for Senior / Team leaders and RCW’s

Complete effective and good quality developmental supervisions and appraisals

Identify and tackle underperformance confidently

Complete mini audits within other homes (demonstrating an ability to offer reflection, advice, recognise shortfalls and understand the importance of monitoring).

Health & Safety;

Report any infectious illness or accident incurred by a young person, colleague, or other person.

Ensure that all Health and Safety, Emergency and Fire policies and procedures are followed, ensuring compliance.

Ensure that equipment is clean and well-maintained, report any damage, faults or hazards in a timely manner ensuring safety of all.

Promote safe working practice within the Northridge Care Group organisation.

Ensure that the security of your home is maintained at all times.

General;

At all times promote and ensure anti discriminatory practice.

Assist in maintaining financial records in line with Company policies and procedures.

Carry out administrative tasks as and when required.

Welcome visitors. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.

Act as a champion for the business through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour and professional appearance.

Lead in managing rota’s and covering staff shortage.

Lead in managing the homes budget.

Understand, complete and show good decision making during designated on call responsibilities.

Complete to a good standard the core documents of the home (Reg 44, Reg 45, Annex A, Statement of Purpose, Workforce development plan, homes development plan).

Competence in completing Regulation 40 notifications. (Be able to demonstrate a strong ability to complete all sections from a monitoring, reflective and solution focused approach).

Ability to lead regulation 44 visits effectively

Complete a monthly managers audit and show competence in doing this thoroughly and reflectively.

Participate in/lead meetings professionally and effectively (staff meetings, professional meetings).

Person Specification

Experience and Qualifications;

Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential children’s care (This is a requirement within the children’s homes regulations)

Completed / Enrolled on Level 5 Leadership and management qualification

NVQ Level 3/4 Children and Young People (or equivalent / working towards)

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

Evidence of significant experience of managing staff to deliver high standards of care.

Experience of effectively managing budgets including monitoring, recording and reporting.

Skills & Abilities;

Proven ability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative when necessary.

Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to young people with emotionally challenging behaviours and / or learning difficulties

Demonstrates commitment to working with young people in a respectful way that honours their wishes.

Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic with ability to motivate others to achieve goals

Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to tailor communication to groups with differing levels of engagement and understanding (young people, families, etc)

Able to build positive relationships with young people, their families and colleagues.

Works collaboratively with others sharing ideas and information at all times
