Full job description

We are currently looking for the right person to join our team as a Quantity Surveyor (general construction bias) and help develop and propel our Building and Electrical Divisions during our growth following a number of contract awards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing commercial and contractual operations of numerous projects, including identifying opportunities offering best value to the customer, maximising profitability and limiting commercial risk.

This is a unique opportunity for a professional who will work closely with the Director and Contract Managers and will ideally suit someone who has experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a number of years. The candidate must be accurate, hardworking, conscientious and passionate about doing things the right way, not the easy way.

There will a bonus scheme based on profit sharing for high performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Director and Contracts Managers;
  • Overseeing commercial operations;
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;
  • Allocate work to subcontractors, valuing completed works and producing payment certificates;
  • Advise on a procurement strategy working with the buying team to select and source materials;
  • Attending pre-start meetings to negotiate and agree contractual terms, progress reports, maintain awareness of the different building projects currently ongoing.
  • Site visits and communication with site teams;
  • Carry out accurate project valuations, contract variations;
  • Prepare, submit and agree final accounts;
  • Assist the finance team in the collection of payments in accordance with sub-contract terms, including the resolution of any disputed charges;
  • Maintain and develop client relationships to secure further work opportunities;

Salary

£50,000.00-£75,000.00 per year (depending on experience)

  • Candidates for this position should ideally be qualified to Degree level in Quantity Surveying or similar construction related disciplines however, part qualified candidates may also be considered;

  • Quantity Surveying: 3 years (required)
  • M & E : 1 year (required)
