Full job description

Multi-Skilled Property Maintenance Operative

About Us:

We are a small, family-run company working exclusively within the B2B maintenance and property services sector.

Being a small family business comes with plenty of advantages. You won't be treated like just another number — you'll work closely with the owners, have a direct line of communication, and be part of a friendly, supportive team where your work is genuinely valued.

Our work is varied, and no two days are necessarily the same. We carry out everything from general maintenance and decorating to refurbishments, redecorations and a whole range of other jobs for our commercial clients.

Where We Work:

We operate predominantly across Hertfordshire, London, Surrey and Hampshire, carrying out maintenance, decorating, refurbishment and general maintenance works for our B2B clients.

The majority of our work is within these areas, although from time to time we may take on projects elsewhere in the UK. This is why flexibility and a willingness to occasionally stay away overnight are important for the role.

You'll be travelling to a variety of commercial properties and sites.

The Role:

We're looking for a multi-skilled, practical and reliable person who can turn their hand to a variety of trades and maintenance tasks.

This is not a typical 9–5 job. The work varies depending on the day, the job and the needs of our customers, so flexibility is important. In return, you'll get plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your skills across a wide range of work.

Typical jobs may include:

  • General building and property maintenance
  • Decorating and painting
  • Redecorations and refurbishments
  • Carpentry and basic joinery
  • Basic plumbing
  • Basic electrical work
  • Repairs and remedial work
  • Fitting, fixing and general handyman work
  • Commercial property maintenance
  • A variety of other jobs where a practical, can-do approach is required

We're not necessarily looking for someone who is qualified in every trade. We're looking for someone who is genuinely multi-skilled, confident, practical and willing to have a go.

What We're Looking For:

The right person will ideally:

  • Have experience in property maintenance, construction, refurbishment or a similar environment
  • Be multi-skilled across several trades
  • Take pride in their work and pay attention to detail
  • Be reliable, hardworking and trustworthy
  • Be able to work independently and use their initiative
  • Have a good attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Be comfortable dealing with different types of jobs and customers
  • Have a full UK driving licence
  • Be flexible regarding working hours and locations
  • Be willing to occasionally stay away overnight elsewhere in the UK when the job requires it

Most importantly, we're looking for the right person and the right attitude. If you don't tick every box but have good practical skills and are keen to learn, we'd still like to hear from you.

What We Offer:

As a small family-run company, we can offer a more personal and flexible working environment than a large organisation.

  • Company van provided for work
  • A friendly, family-business atmosphere
  • Varied work — no two days are necessarily the same
  • Direct communication with the people running the business
  • A supportive team where your contribution is recognised
  • Opportunities to use and develop a wide range of skills
  • Work primarily within the B2B/commercial sector
  • Flexibility rather than being tied to a rigid 9–5 routine
  • Competitive pay for the right person
  • The opportunity to become an important part of a growing small business

Hours & Location:

The nature of our work means there are no fixed 9–5 hours. Working times will vary depending on the job, customer requirements and workload.

Most work will be local/regional, but there will be occasional overnight stays elsewhere in the UK when required.

A company van will be provided for carrying out the work, so you'll have the right vehicle available to get to jobs and transport the necessary tools and materials.

Salary:

The right pay for the right person.

We're open to discussing salary based on your experience, skills and what you can bring to the business.

Interested?

If you're a multi-skilled tradesperson who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work and doesn't want to spend every day doing the same thing, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're practical, reliable, willing to get stuck in and looking for a role where you're valued as an individual rather than just another employee, get in touch.

Benefits:

  • Additional leave
  • Company car
  • Company pension
  • Flexitime

Work Location: On the road
