Job Title: Fit Out Estimator

Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Fit Out Estimator whose key responsibilities include producing project estimates from enquiries received and leading the procurement of materials and trades for projects won. This role involves working closely with the Commercial Manager, Joinery Estimator, project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to produce detailed quotations, raise purchase orders, manage project budgets, and approve supplier invoices. The goal is to maintain company margins and meet project timescales.

Based in Honley, our client is a leading high-end joinery manufacturer and specialist interior fit-out company focusing on the hospitality and leisure sectors. They are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join their growing team. The company operates from a modern workshop equipped with the latest machinery, continually investing in facilities to ensure the best working environment.

Reports to:

  • General Manager

Remuneration Package:

  • Competitive salary
  • NEST pension scheme with employee and employer contributions as required by HMRC
  • 20 days holiday per year plus 8 public holidays. Holiday entitlement increases by 1 day per full year of service, up to a maximum of 33 days including bank holidays

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review initial tender enquiries from new and existing clients
  • Obtain quotes from the supply chain for sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Generate a scope of works or use client’s schedules
  • Calculate in-house material, labour, and prelims costs
  • Compile final tenders and submit to deadlines
  • Answer post-tender queries
  • Attend on-site or virtual meetings as required
  • Manage multiple tenders from various clients simultaneously
  • Negotiate with sub-contract trades to achieve best cost value
  • Manage the ordering process to sub-contractors and material suppliers for won projects
  • Generate cost updates as projects progress
  • Generate interim valuations and invoices
  • Compile final accounts and agree with clients
  • Perform post-project analysis of costs against budgets
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers
  • Identify new business opportunities for the company

Person Specification:

Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is ideal

Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor in the commercial interior design and fit-out sector
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs
  • Proficient in using industry-standard estimating software and tools
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with various stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in the use of Office 365 software
  • Exceptional IT knowledge (project file management, email management, etc.)
  • Highly experienced in problem-solving
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Good knowledge of SAGE accounts and purchasing software is preferable

Personal Attributes & Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to project locations for site surveys or meetings
  • Personable, approachable, and confident team member demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the business
