Job Summary
The post involves·
- ensuring the cleanliness of the premises
- minor maintenance and repairs
- regular maintenance and health and safety checks
- · preparing the hall for bookings.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning
1. Clean the Village Hall facilities and keep them adequately equipped
2. Maintain and keep clean the external surrounds of the VH including the lift
3. Be responsible for the purchase of cleaning and maintenance materials
4. Ensure the building remains tidy and that all equipment and furniture is properly stored after use.
5. Advise the Village Hall trustees of the need to replace damaged equipment, furniture and fittings
Maintenance tasks
6. Be responsible for regular maintenance checks of the operation of systems such as heating, lighting and security, (training will be provided where necessary)
7. Undertake minor repairs to fixture, fittings and systems
8. Arrange for general maintenance within specialist areas such as heating lighting and plumbing
9. Refer more major repairs to the Village Hall Committee for decision on the action required
Regular maintenance and legislative tasks
10. Implement fire safety regulations, Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, emergency procedures and the rules for evacuating the building. (Training will be provided where necessary)
11. Be responsible for regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings including compliance with fire safety regulations. (Training will be provided where necessary).
12. Test the fire alarm and emergency lighting system on a weekly basis.
13. To be responsible for the maintenance and stocking of the VH First Aid kit
14. To ensure that the accident log book is updated after all accidents in the VH
15. To attend VH CIO management meetings as required.
Preparing the Hall from bookings
16. Ensure required equipment is in good condition and easily accessible
Skills
The successful candidate will:
- · be agood organiser with multi-tasking and scheduling skills
- · have experience of public building/office cleaning
- · be committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and order
- · have basic DIY skills
- · have an understanding of health and safety requirements
- · have problem solving skills for addressing safety and maintenance concerns
