Company description

LR Engineering was established in 1988 in the Cotswold town of Fairford, close to Swindon, Cheltenham and Oxford. The company is split in to three divisions; Welding Fabrication, Assembly Technologies, and Lifting and Handling Services (Cyclone Crane Services). We provide these services to a wide range of clients, from bespoke to mass production.

In our purpose-built unit we have an assembly area for our Assembly Technologies division and a large fabrication shop with dedicated welding booths and a fully sealed spray room. We work with industrial and manufacturing companies, national and local authorities, civil contractors and architects, building contractors and tradesmen – anyone that provides or requires a professional engineering and fabrication solution.

As a family originated business we are keen to maintain the core values of investing in the team and facilities that we have been doing for over 30 years.

Quality engineering services has always been a focus to ensure customers return and tell their contacts in the industry about LR Engineering in a positive light. Safety is always paramount in an environment where risks exist – our qualified and experienced team put safety first both in the factory and onsite at our customers.

We all share a planet that is extremely important to us. We regularly support projects in our local community and consider sustainability throughout the business.

Job role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who has a flexible attitude to carry out servicing, repair and LOLER thorough examinations on a variety of lifting equipment at customer sites and at our workshop. You will also be involved in projects that require installation of new lifting equipment / cranes.

As part of the role you will be expected to complete all the necessary associated paperwork in accordance with current legislation and company procedures.

You will also be expected to adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation as well as company policies and those laid down by our customers.

You will be expected to be adaptable across the range of our business, including when required working with our other divisions outside of the traditional requirements of a lifting equipment engineer, such as welding fabrication.

Successful candidate must show:

· Proven experience (at least 10 years) working as an engineer in this field, with knowledge of diagnosing and repairing of faults with a good understanding of both LOLER and PUWER

· Background of working in electrical and mechanical engineering with a good understanding of general engineering fundamentals

· A strong attention to detail is essential

· An ability to both work on your own and as part of a team when required

· Current UK driving licence

· Excellent customer focus, with ability to both listen to customer requirements and communicate with the customer whilst on site

· LEEA qualifications are essential, as a minimum to foundation level, additional and on-going training is provided

· Working at Height, CSCS and other relevant qualifications are recommended, although additional and on-going training is provided

· An understanding of the principles of working to risk assessments and method statements

· Physically fit and able to work at heights

· Ability to work the required hours and willing to work on-site and overtime (weekdays and weekends) if required

· Good computer literacy; able to work on pc, laptop, tablet, and smart phone, using software such as MS Office and our online database record program.

Pay can range from £17.03-£18.46 per hour (£34,537 - £37,437 PA basic) depending on experience and longevity of employment. We often offer some overtime which is paid at a higher rate.

Job Type: temporary / full time (may progress to permanent) (Mon-Thurs 7.30-4.30, Fri 7.30-12.30 (39 hours with a 30 minute lunch break)) A significant proportion of this job may be on site and as such hours worked will need to be flexible to ensure the work is completed, overtime rates are paid.

Permanent employment benefits include; access to a company van, tools and mobile phone, 28 days paid holiday (including bank holidays), company contributed government pension scheme, bonus(es), FSB Healthcare and training scheme (both work and personal development)
