If so, perhaps mechanical maintenance engineering is your career call. Earn as you learn, combining college study for a Level 3 Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship with industry experience at the largest independent construction materials group in the UK.

Hope Works offers various high-quality apprenticeships, Our Apprentices spend time learning about maintaining & repairing Heavy fixed and mobile plant in our quarries & cement plant over a four-year period. On completion you will qualify as a Maintenance Engineering Technician.

Our team of engineers & craftspeople specialise in designing, building, operating & maintaining an array of impressive machines & large structures such as Mobile plant, Crushers, Kilns, various types of conveyors & grinding mills.
By learning a wide breath of practical skills such as welding, fabrication, machining & hand skills you will learn how to and strip down, rebuild, service and repair large and impressive machinery.


About apprenticeships


Working closely with our quality training provider in Rotherham, the team supporting the apprenticeship scheme will ensure you gain technical skills & knowledge to gain a general foundation in engineering before progressing to site where you can practice what you have learnt under close supervision. Over time you will develop confidence and gain satisfaction of putting what you have learnt into practice with the goal of becoming a competent.
You will attend college at AMRC in Rotherham full time for the first 7 months completing practical training such as electrical and mechanical modules, fluid power, hand fitting, business improvements and project planning.
This will be followed by day release at college for the rest of year 1 and year 2, where you will work towards your Level 3 Diploma.
The apprenticeship normally takes between 36-48 months
During your apprenticeship you will gain experience in the below.
  • Improving the workplace with respect to health, wellbeing safety & environment
  • Weld, fabricate, use machine tools, technical drawing and strip down, rebuild, service and repair large machinery.
  • Machine Installation & commissioning
  • Planned / unplanned & preventative machinery maintenance.
  • Manufacture & Repair of engineering components
  • Trouble shooting and fault finding to solve issues with machinery.
  • Engineering machinery Optimisation & Improvements
  • Gain experience & confidence in transferable soft skills so you feel comfortable working with your own initiative or part of a team.

  • Are predicted to or have 5 GCSEs at grade 5/C or above inclusive of Maths, which has to be a grade 6/B and English & science?
