Trade Recruit is currently looking for an experienced and highly capable Builder / Multi-Trade Operative on behalf of a well-established residential building company specialising in extensions, loft conversions, and property alterations.

This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a skilled all-rounder who can work independently, take ownership of tasks on site, and confidently carry out a variety of structural and general building works to a high standard.

The client is ideally looking for a permanent PAYE employee; however long-term subcontract arrangements will also be considered for the right candidate.

The Role

This is a varied hands-on position working across residential projects including:

  • Extensions
  • Loft conversions
  • Structural alterations
  • Refurbishments and knock-throughs

Main duties will include:

  • Bricklaying and associated masonry work
  • Installation of domestic steels and structural supports
  • Padstone installation
  • Knock-throughs and structural alteration work
  • Insulation works
  • General building and rip-outs
  • First fix joinery
  • Installing first floors
  • Supporting loft conversion projects
  • Working alongside the existing labourer/developer and wider team

While bricklaying experience is important, this role is not solely bricklaying focused, as subcontract bricklayers are also used when required. The client is specifically looking for someone with strong all-round building experience who is confident across multiple areas of construction.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have extensive experience within residential building projects
  • Be confident carrying out structural and alteration works independently
  • Have experience installing steels and padstones
  • Be capable with first fix joinery and floor installations
  • Ideally have experience working on loft conversions
  • Be reliable, organised, and able to manage workloads effectively on site
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship
  • Hold their own hand tools
  • Have a full UK driving licence

This role would suit an experienced builder who enjoys varied project work and is looking for long-term stability with a growing company.
