Full job description

BUSINESS OPERATIONS MANAGER

Your career doesn't fit neatly into a job title. Perhaps this one will

You've developed a broad range of skills and experience, perhaps through different roles or by taking on responsibilities beyond your original remit. Your background might be in business management, administration, production, facilities, project coordination or something entirely different. Whatever your story, you have a knack for spotting what's missing, working out what needs to happen and getting on with it.

You see the bigger picture without losing sight of the detail. You're curious about how things work, how they connect and how they might work better.

So, what's the job?

We're TonyG, an independent creative production business based in South Warwickshire. Our team of around 30 designers, makers, project managers and problem-solvers creates everything from luxury retail displays to immersive brand environments.

We're looking for someone to take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management and improvement of our business operations.

This is a behind-the-scenes role, focused on how TonyG operates as a business rather than the delivery of our client projects.

It's a broad role, working closely with our directors, managers and colleagues across the business. You'll investigate problems, explore opportunities, make recommendations and take agreed plans through to implementation.

Some responsibilities are ongoing. Others will involve developing new systems, introducing improvements or tackling issues that don't fit neatly into any one department. You'll be just as comfortable getting involved in the practical day-to-day tasks as you are at stepping back to consider how things could work better.

What You'll be Doing

  • Business operations & improvement:

You'll identify gaps, challenges and opportunities across the business, investigating causes and developing practical solutions.

You'll review systems, processes and ways of working, looking for improvement in efficiency, consistency and communication.

You'll coordinate projects from initial investigation and recommendations through to implementation, involving the right people, communicating clearly, monitoring progress and checking back to ensure changes have been adopted and are working as intended.

You'll also keep an eye on developments in technology, AI, sustainability and business practices, exploring ideas that might benefit the business.

  • Premises & facilities

You'll oversee the day-to-day management of our buildings, grounds and facilities, coordinating maintenance, servicing, repairs, contractors and improvement projects

You'll manage the practical arrangements that keep our workplace functioning effectively, including utilities, security, vehicles, suppliers and services

Good organisation and attention to detail matter here, from anticipating maintenance requirements to maintaining accurate records, monitoring contracts and following up on outstanding work.

  • Health, Safety & Compliance

You'll coordinate our health & safety and environmental compliance arrangements, working with managers and external specialists to ensure responsibilities are understood and requirements are met.

This includes risk assessments, policies, inspections, training and corrective actions.

You won't be expected to know everything yourself, but you'll need the confidence and judgement to ask questions, challenge advice where appropriate, involve the right expertise and make sure agreed actions are completed.

  • Governance, risk and business continuity

You'll help manage the arrangements that protect and support the business, including insurance, data protection, business continuity and operational security.

You'll maintain oversight of relevant records, responsibilities and actions, identifying emerging risks, raising awareness and working with colleagues and advisers to address them.

  • People, communication and business support

You'll work across the business, building effective relationships and helping people, departments and external stakeholders communicate and work together.

You'll understand that successful changes depend on involving people, sharing information at the right time and following through, rather than simply introducing a new process and moving on.

You'll also take responsibility for general office administration and business support, combining hands-on involvement with opportunities to improve how these functions operate.

What matters to us?

We're interested in what you've achieved, how you approach problems and what you're capable of taking on next.

You'll need strong organisational and communication skills, sound judgement, confidence using business systems and a practical understanding of how organisations work.

You should be comfortable taking initiative, managing competing priorities, working with others and seeing things through to completion.

We're open to different levels of experience.

You might already have substantial experience managing business operations and be ready to take ownership from the outset. Equally, you may be earlier in your career, with the initiative, judgement and potential to grow into a management role.

If you feel you have the skills, initiative and potential we are looking for, but aren't quite ready for a management position, we'd still be interested in hearing from you. We may consider suitable candidates for other opportunities within the business, with responsibilities and salary appropriate to those roles.

Working at TonyG

We're an independent business where you'll get to know the people, understand how the different parts of the organisation fir together and have a genuine opportunity to influence how we work.

We're not simply looking for someone to administer existing processes. We want someone who will help us questions, develop and improve them.

This is a full-time, entirely office-based role, working from our premises in South Warwickshire. Due to our location, access to your own transport is essential.

Salary depending on experience and the level of responsibility taken on at appointment.

If this role has caught your attention, we'd love to hear why. Please include a short cover letter telling us what appealed to you and why you think you'd be a good fit.

Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
