Excursion Manager – Residential
Location: Various Locations
Type of Contract: Fixed Term, Full time
Working Hours: 48 hours per week
  • Due to the varying demands of the role, candidates will be asked to ‘op-out’ of the 48 hour Working Time Directive
Salary: £755* weekly wage + holiday remuneration
  • Basic Salary £665 + Weekly bonus of 90 for meeting KPI targets

Spring - 01/04/2025 - 16/04/2025
Summer - 01/07/2025 - 12/08/2025

Senior Staff induction:
Spring - 26/03/2025 - 30/03/2025

Overview

As an Excursion Manager with Oxford International Junior Programmes, you will be both client and back office-facing, responsible for the complete over-sight and smooth running of the cultural excursion programme at one of our residential language centres. A cultural understanding of centre-local cities would be beneficial in this role (this could be London/Oxford/Brighton for our southern-UK centres, and Edinburgh/Glasgow for our Scottish centre).

All candidates need to be over 18 years old, eligible to work in the UK and willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS Disclosure Check and/or an Overseas Police Check.

Must Haves

  • Experience working in a residential camp setting or similar
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong organisational and planning skills in order to successfully deal with a variety of requests
  • A positive and flexible approach to work, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • A desire to work with students aged between 8-17
  • The ability to demonstrate respect for equal opportunities and respect for race and diversity

Duties

Staff Management

Contribute to building an efficient and cohesive staff team by:

  • Creating a positive environment, in which staff feel motivated and willing to work hard
  • Monitoring staff performance during excursions, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout
  • Being the point of contact for staff during excursions
  • Liaising with the Activities Manager in creating rotas, ensuring that all excursion days are appropriately staffed
  • Assisting the Activities Manager in ensuring all staff get an induction, focusing on the cultural excursions programme and expectations.
  • Working alongside the Activities Manager to
  • conduct staff appraisals, recognising good performance, as well as helping staff improve where necessary

Client Management

Consistently provide outstanding customer service throughout the programme by:

  • Holding regular meetings with Group Leaders regarding upcoming excursions
  • Promptly answering all requests from Group Leaders. This may include tailoring excursion plans to ensure the best possible experience for their particular students
  • Collating Group Leader and student feedback from excursions, overseeing the implementation of positive feedback-based changes
  • Maintaining a healthy working relationship with transport companies and attraction providers

General

Further successfully perform your role by:

  • Carefully planning excursion days, ensuring that they are delivered to a high standard
  • Creating extensive and detailed excursion packs, which can be provided to Activity Leaders
  • Supporting the Activity Leaders in their preparation, running development sessions to ensure standards are consistent
  • Holding timely pre-excursion meetings with the Activities Leaders, ensuring absolute clarity regarding the operational running of excursion days
  • Holding timely pre-excursion meetings with Group Leaders, providing absolute clarity and tailoring itineraries to ensure students and clients receive outstanding excursion days
  • Diligently updating spreadsheets, keeping an accurate record of coach and attraction bookings
  • Assisting the Activities Manager and taking a lead role in Activity Staff Management if/where necessary
  • Providing all necessary documentation to Head Office via the Operations Manager by set deadlines
  • Maintaining proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare throughout, responding quickly to emergencies where necessary
  • Monitoring staff welfare, offering support when needed
  • Maintaining a great presence throughout, ensuring you are visible to students and easily contactable by clients
