General Manager
The Maybush Inn, part of Deben Inns

The Maybush Inn, the flagship site within the Deben Inns family, is looking for an ambitious, hands-on and service-driven leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys leading from the front, and is looking to progress their career within a respected family business.

About the role

As the lead at The Maybush Inn, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the site, ensuring exceptional service standards, building and developing a strong team, and delivering a successful, well-run business. You will work closely with the Head Chef, report to the Area Manager, and liaise with the Directors of the family business.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and support the front of house team on a daily basis
  • Deliver outstanding guest service and ensure high standards are maintained throughout the site
  • Take overall responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operation of the business
  • Manage staffing levels effectively, including rota planning and wage percentage control
  • Recruit, train, coach and develop team members to help them reach their potential
  • Create a positive, professional and productive working environment
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure strong communication between kitchen and front of house
  • Monitor business performance and help drive sales, standards and profitability
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures, health and safety, and licensing requirements
  • Report regularly to the Area Manager and Directors on site performance, team development and operational matters

What we are looking for

  • A strong hospitality leader with previous management experience in a busy pub, restaurant or hospitality venue
  • Someone who leads by example and is passionate about excellent service
  • Experience managing rotas, labour costs and wage percentages
  • Confident in training, developing and motivating a team
  • Organised, commercially aware and able to take ownership of a flagship site
  • A team player who can build strong relationships with both front and back of house
  • Ambitious and eager to grow within a successful family business
