Full job description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Datavitality Ltd is a growing primary care support business delivering remote clinical coding, document management, and administrative services to NHS GP practices across England and Wales.
We are expanding our clinical team and are looking for experienced healthcare professionals to support our GP practice clients with the clinical triage, review, and routing of incoming documents, blood test results, and examination reports.
This is not a patient-facing or prescribing role. You will use your clinical knowledge and judgement to assess incoming correspondence and results, determine clinical priority, and route them accurately to the appropriate clinician or team within the practice — all delivered remotely using NHS clinical systems.
We welcome applications from any qualified and registered clinical professional who has relevant experience, including but not limited to:
— General Practitioners (GPs)
— Salaried or Locum Doctors (with primary care experience)
— Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs)
— Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs)
— Physician Associates (PAs)
— Qualified Nurses (RGN, RN) with primary care experience
— Clinical Pharmacists with primary care experience
— Paramedics with advanced practice qualifications
---
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
— Review incoming blood test results, pathology reports, investigation findings, discharge summaries, outpatient letters, and clinical correspondence
— Apply clinical knowledge to triage documents and results by urgency, type, and clinical relevance
— Route each item accurately to the appropriate GP, nurse, pharmacist, or administrative team within the practice workflow
— Add appropriate clinical notes, actions, or flags to assist the receiving clinician where required
— Maintain accurate records of all actions taken within the GP clinical system
— Escalate urgent or abnormal findings promptly to the appropriate clinical lead
— Adhere to NHS information governance, patient confidentiality requirements, and GDPR at all times
---
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience
— Minimum 1–2 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a primary care, GP practice, or equivalent NHS setting
— Demonstrable hands-on experience of reviewing and triaging clinical results, blood tests, investigation reports, or clinical correspondence within a GP or healthcare setting— this is not a role for those without direct experience of this kind of work
— Familiarity with how GP practices operate, including workflow structures, clinical prioritisation, and result management
Registration
You must hold a current, valid registration with your relevant professional regulatory body. Acceptable registrations include:
— GMC (General Medical Council) — Doctors and Physician Associates
— NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) — Registered Nurses, ANPs
— GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) — Clinical Pharmacists
— HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) — Paramedics and Allied Health Professionals
— Any other appropriate statutory regulatory body for your clinical profession
Your registration must be active and in good standing at the time of application and throughout any engagement with Datavitality Ltd.
Clinical Systems
— Hands-on working experience with EMIS Web and/or SystmOne is required — please specify which system(s) you are proficient in when applying
Indemnity & Insurance
— You must hold your own current professional indemnity insurance and medical/clinical liability cover appropriate to your role and registration. This is a mandatory requirement.
— Datavitality Ltd does not provide indemnity cover, vicarious liability cover, or employer liability for clinical decisions made under this locum arrangement. All clinical liability remains with the individual practitioner.
Other
— Excellent understanding of medical terminology, investigation results, and clinical documentation
— High level of attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently at volume
— Reliable home working setup with a high-speed internet connection
— Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)
— Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE
— Experience using Docman 10, Anima, Emis, SystemOne
— Experience working across multiple GP practices simultaneously
— Previous remote or home-working clinical role experience
— Familiarity with NHS England and/or NHS Wales primary care structures and referral pathways
— Experience with clinical coding (Read codes / SNOMED CT)
---
IMPORTANT — LOCUM TERMS
This role is engaged on a self-employed locum basis. By applying you confirm that you understand and accept the following:
— You are responsible for holding and maintaining your own professional indemnity and clinical liability insurance for the duration of any engagement
— You are responsible for keeping your professional registration current and in good standing
— You are responsible for your own CPD and compliance with your regulatory body’s requirements
— You will operate as a self-employed contractor; Datavitality Ltd is not your employer for the purposes of this engagement

Pay: £18.00-£38.00 per hour
