The Role

As a Mineral Exploration Driller, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of drilling projects, ensuring operations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest possible standards.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the drill rig, supervision of the drill crew, and maintaining excellent communication with geologists, project managers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage the day-to-day activities of the drill rig and drilling crew.
  • Set up drilling equipment, ensuring correct alignment, drill angles, and compliance with client requirements.
  • Core boreholes to specification while maintaining maximum core recovery.
  • Drill holes safely and efficiently to target depth, adapting drilling techniques to suit varying ground conditions.
  • Carry out borehole surveys using approved surveying equipment at intervals specified by the client.
  • Monitor drilling performance, productivity, and equipment condition throughout the project.
  • Complete accurate drilling records, reports, and daily documentation.
  • Ensure drilling equipment and associated tooling are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Promote and maintain excellent health, safety, and environmental practices at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in mineral exploration drilling.
  • Experience with core sizes:
  • AQ
  • AQTK
  • BQ
  • BQTK
  • NQ
  • HQ
  • Experience in surface drilling, underground drilling, or both.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Valid permission to work in the UK is essential.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to safety.

Desirable Experience(Training Provided if Required)

  • Directional / navigational drilling.
  • Completion of drilling operations exceeding 1,000 metres depth.
  • Experience using Zero Trip Wedges.
  • Advanced borehole surveying techniques.
  • Directional drilling tools and equipment.
