Director of Operations UK — High-Growth SME Fintech Lender Summary
  • Role: Director of Operations UK
  • Location: London
  • Work arrangement: UK-based with a realistic commute required
  • Compensation: GBP 130,000 base
This is a high-growth fintech lender providing fast, flexible capital to SMEs across multiple international markets. The UK operation is a key part of that growth, with an established local team and continued expansion momentum.
What you'll do
  • You'll oversee the day-to-day UK operation from application through to funding, keeping priorities, commissions, and cross-functional handoffs moving.
  • You'll set and track SLAs, turnaround times, exceptions, and operating rhythms, then step in quickly when bottlenecks start to affect funding speed or customer experience.
  • You'll maintain strong operational governance, reporting, risk, and compliance standards in line with group expectations and UK regulated-lending requirements.
  • You'll work closely with Product, Technology, and external IT providers to improve workflows, reduce manual effort, and build processes that scale.
  • You'll act as the operational counterpart to Sales and Partnerships leadership, helping origination teams stay focused on revenue activity while service levels remain high.
  • You'll lead operational managers and team leaders across performance, workforce planning, hiring, succession, and retention.
Who we're looking for You'll likely come from a lending, fintech, or financial-services operations background where pace, coordination, and operational discipline all matter every day.
Must-haves:
  • Senior operations leadership experience in lending, fintech, or broader financial services, with end-to-end ownership of day-to-day operations
  • Experience as a Director of Operations, Head of Operations, General Manager, or similar senior operator who has led managers and held cross-functional leaders to account
  • A strong track record of improving SLAs, turnaround times, and operating cadence in a live, high-volume operating environment
  • Strong capability in process documentation, workflow improvement, and scaling operations through clearer governance and automation
  • Experience operating in a high-growth business where teams are scaling and operational discipline needs to keep pace
Nice-to-haves:
  • Familiarity with FCA requirements
  • Familiarity with GDPR
  • Direct exposure to UK regulated lending environments
  • Experience partnering closely with product and technology teams to improve operational workflows
What's in it for you
  • A senior operational leadership role in a high-growth fintech with an established international footprint
  • Real scope to shape how the UK operation scales, rather than just maintain an existing steady-state model
  • A meaningful role in a UK business that is central to the group’s broader growth strategy
  • The chance to work across operations, sales, product, and technology in a business where execution speed matters
